Now yes the acoustic setting helps aid the nirvana songs ease of listening and yeah dave grohl is very talented but to go as far to talk kurt cobain up like some kind of figure, come on now. Alright children Nirvana is good, but to say they are immortalized, come on. The album is good if you like nirvana if not just download the select songs because for a whole album purchase id say it doesnt rank among alot of albums out there.
I even wore flannel shirts everywhere, all the time. On each track it becomes more apparent that these "slackers from the northwest" were true musicians. This starts out slow and mellow and morphs into a screaming, begging inquisition. Then in fall of 1994 this monumental work was released. But the final work is amazing.
Here we have the three main members, with a few on the spot musicians to round out the sound. And Cobains raspy vocals lend an emotion rarely seen in the teen angst movement in the late 90's.My favorite track is "Where Did You Sleep Last Night." A cover of an old Ledbelly(). The rest of the tracks are all stripped down, subdued and stunning. A terrific song to crank in the car and bellow along with. "The Man Who Sold the World", "About a Girl", and "All Apologies" Are terrific. However, after this came out I instantly aware that they would never work on another album, and I would miss them. This was a vast departure from their normal electric, grinding, caterwauling vocals. I was a huge fan of the Seattle sound.
I was more of a Pearl Jam fan, but I still liked Nirvana. This was from the wildly popular MTV Unplugged series, but Nirvana, being the mavericks that they were, snuck in a few electric guitars. I have listened to it many, if not hundreds of, times.T Then there is "Pennyroyal Tea" a song that gives a brief look into the debilitating stomach ailment that ultimately helped him justify his heroin addiction as a way to cope with the pain.Anyway, this is one of those "must have albums". Yep, I came of age during grunge rock. After Kurt passed in spring of 1994, I really didn't think I would miss the band. song.
My parents hate grunge, alternative music but this is one album we can all listen to together. You don't even have to be a huge fan of Nirvana to know this music was in a special moment in time when the MTV Unplugged session took place. A must, must, must own. This is one of my top 10 all-time favorite albums. Everybody should have this album in their collection. And I've listened to other bands in the MTV Unplugged sessions and nobody has even come close since Nirvana.
Proved Nirvana could do a lot more then just play grunge. Great album, not a single song I would skip over. Best MTV unplugged album made. "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" and "The Man Who Sold The World" are covers that in my opinion are better then even the originals.
CD is was new condition, and sent promptly. I would recommend purchase through this provider.
